This is the Sidebar. It's not possible to hide it in the Theme Styles, but you can fill it with text and/or images (maximum 252px wide) into the Sidebar. It's an extra column in your page. The width of the Sidebar is by default 252px.
But with a trick it's possible to "hide" the sidebar: Don’t place any “normal” content in either the edit window or sidebar window. Add an extracontent snippet, entitle it myExtraContent2 and place all your page’s content in that. The extra content area 2 spans the entire width of the page beneath the regular content and sidebar.... but since we cleverly left out the regular content, the EC content acts like the regular content (read this).
• Three options for the position of the Sidebarheader: hide, below the topmenu and below the Title beam. The sidebarheader has a fixed width of 187px.
• 7 different widths: 700px, 750px, 800px, 850px, 900px, 960px and 1000px.
• 5 different built-in headerimages and the ability to add 10 custom header images, or hide the headerimage (for example this page) or add a BannerZest flash header. You can even activate both BannerZest images together: the Header Image ánd the Banner Image!
• Up to 2 ExtraContent Containers with the ExtraContent Snippets in the downloadfile: The ExtraContent1 area is the Banner in four different heights: 79, 167px, 250px or 338 px. You can add a pattern or an image as background (your own image too!), leave it transparent or give it a colour. You can choose between 21 transparent images in the Theme Styles, but I've addes much more in the downloadfile... or make your own image in the banner! Or choose for a BannerZest flash Banner! The background can be transparent, a colour, a pattern or an image. Add any text and/or images in this area and style it in the Theme Styles and with the ExtraContent Snippet in the Custom CSS of RapidWeaver.
The ExtraContent2 area is just above the footer over the full width of the container. The background can be transparent, a colour, a pattern or an image. Style it in the Theme Styles and with the ExtraContent Snippet in the Custom CSS of RapidWeaver. Read the Manual. There's no need to use this option!
• Background Patterns or Colours: Different body beam, title and slogan beam, menu beam and footer background patterns built right into the theme. 10 are built right in and you can also add your own or replace the other ones. Or choose a colour! There are thousands of combinations with patterns and/or colours.
• The Menus: MAGAZINE DropDown has a DropDownMenu. MAGAZINE Split has a SplitMenu (only the Submenu of the Current Menu shows up in the Sidebar) and MAGAZINE Dual has a DualMenu (all Submenus appear in the Sidebar). The first level of navigation is always horizontal and displays at the top of the page.
• Many color picker features.
• Logo This is the Logo position by default:
The Manual explains how to move the logo to another place on your page. The logo and the title have a link with the index.html page of your website. Whatever base url is inserted in Site Setup > Website will be the link.
• TextBoxes. You can add an unlimited number of TextBoxes in the Content, in the Sidebar or in the SidebarHeader. Now it's really fun to design your website! Download the Snippets + ReadMe file here. It's free!
• MAGAZINE has been tested with all RapidWeaver plugins and with the major browsers: IE6, IE7, Google Chrome, Opera, Camino, Firefox and Safari (for Windows and Mac).
• And many other features! See the variations at the right side of this page.
This Page shows all Theme Variations of the three MAGAZINE themes. Here the Banner has a Background Pattern, but with one click it's a colour or an image (see Banner Background). You can choose four different heights and positions of the banner. Click on the image below:
